  • Vent-Free
Gas - Fireplace in Dundalk MD
Exhaust fumes (including odor and moisture) are removed from the home area.
Vent-free fireplaces burn much like a kerosene heater (i.e. they burned very cleanly but not perfectly). They can result in elevated levels of carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide in the home. This may only be an issue if people have a strong sense of smell or are more sensitive than others.
Some vented models, specifically “direct-vents,” are excellent heaters with very high efficiency ratings. Others are used primarily for aesthetics, which can be less energy efficient.
All vent-free models heat very well since it cannot escape through a chimney. But, there are specific requirements that one must take into account (i.e. the amount of cubic feet in the area vs. the amount of BTUs) when installing a vent-free fireplace.
Realistic and natural flames are possible with certain models; especially those built more for aesthetic reasons. Log inserts can usually be customized or arranged for ultimate realism.
Because the goal of these models is to burn as cleanly as possible, flame patterns tend to be less realistic. Log inserts can not be safely rearranged.
Units and installation usually cost more than the vent-free alternatives.
Units and installation usually cost less than a vented model.
When adding a vented fireplace to the lower level of a two-story home, it can be hard to find a good place to run the venting.
When adding a fireplace to the lower level of a two-story home, sometimes the only option is to install a vent-free model because there is no way to install a venting system.
In small and tight homes, a direct-vent fireplace is usually the best option. It pulls in air to feed the fire between two layers of double vent pipe, and all exhaust is sent out through the center pipe. No heated air from the room is able to escape.
In a very tight house, unless a window is open during use, vent-free fireplaces can cause indoor air pollution (i.e. traces of carbon monoxide, various other chemicals and large amounts of water vapor. Water vapor can then promote the growth of mold and mildew in the home.

Mantis Gas Fireplace is the world's most efficient and versatile fireplace. It exceeds 90% efficiency – which means it uses about 35 perfect less fuel compared to any other vented heater or fireplace system per Btu of heat in your room. This makes Mantis the greenest fireplace you can buy. Because its inexpensive 1 1/2-inch PVC vent pipe can be run inside a conventional 2 x 4 framed wall, the Mantis costs less to install – in materials, time and labor. The Mantis is the first and only vented fireplace that adds humidity to the dry winter air, making your home feel warmer and more comfortable.
The Mantis comes in two versions. The new flat-front Mantis Fireplace comes in three models with vent kits to allow installation in a wall, in a mantel, or as an insert in an existing wood-burning fireplace. The Mantis Bay Window comes in three models for installation in a mantel, as an insert, or on a pedestal.

Because this natural wood can vary in appearance, we grain-matched the components for each mantel, to ensure you get a great looking mantel.
Each mantel is detailed in matching solid wood trim – in oak or poplar. The full 3/4–inch cove moldings and edge trim add structural integrity. Matching decorative trim pieces – in complementary sizes – add beauty and character. Special tooling and a controlled environment allow our craftsmen to assemble your mantel with greater precision and tighter joints than all but the most skilled custom woodworkers can achieve.

Prefab Fireplace Refractory Panels

ER Chimney Services sells and installs replacement refractory panels by National Chimney for your prefabricated fireplaces. Refractory panels are the brick “sheets” that are located inside your fireplace. They may appear to be real bricks but in reality the inside of the fireplace consists of four refractory panels (2 sides, 1 back and 1 bottom).
Refractory panels refract the heat generated by the fire and send that heat back into the room; although on a very small scale. Their main purpose is to keep the heat from penetrating into the firebox and damaging it. Replacing your refractory panel will make your fireplace look better, work better, protect the framing behind your fireplace and reduce the chance of fire. For more information, download this Refractory.

About Environmental StoneWorks*

Environmental Stone WorksBuilders are increasingly turning toward manufactured stone to increase the “wow” factor for their clients. But which stone do you buy? And who gives you the best value?
Truth is, many architectural stone veneers are of a consistently high quality. But one company, Environmental StoneWorks, offers builders a whole lot more. Their offering is not just stone, but stone plus installation. This turnkey approach makes them the only national company providing this much value. By purchasing both the product and the installation service directly from one source, a link in the mark-up chain has been removed and builders receive the best overall value.
Founded in 1978, Environmental StoneWorks' “start to finish” philosophy allows the company to understand the needs and challenges of today's builder far beyond that of any stand-alone manufacturer. The design, manufacture, installation and warranty support all happen under one roof.
This “one point of responsibility” business model is what sets the company apart. Builders benefit by having a project manager on site from beginning to end. This trained and experienced “go-to” guy is 100% accountable to handle any issues that may arise – so the builder won't have to. Having the security of a warranty from the manufacturer for both product and installation is catching on with builders - and their clients.
With 15 installation hubs located strategically throughout the country, Environmental StoneWorks offers regional solutions to go along with their beginning-to-end value philosophy. And because the company is fully bonded and insured, builders have the added assurance knowing jobs will be completed on time and on budget.
With over 30 years of experience, Environmental StoneWorks sells direct to builders providing value by consolidating the supply chain and simplifying the sourcing process. In addition to offering ICC certified stone and brick veneers, the company also has architectural precast products and a broad list of high quality accessories. All products are ICC-ES certified and conform to the latest AC-51 specifications. Environmental StoneWorks is also actively involved in MVMA, NAHB, AIA, Built Green and many other industry associations. Builders can earn LEED credits by working with the company, whose strict safety and installation procedures lead the industry.
Yet it's the value that is turning heads. The company's unique business model saves time and money versus natural stone or clay modular brick and compares favorably versus any other stone veneer providers. This kind of proven value illustrates what more and more builders are finding out: having Environmental StoneWorks as your single end-to-end source from product to installation results in fewer hassles and more savings. That's a big time win-win for builders. Download our Northeast Region Selection Guide now!

Pellet Stoves & Pellet Stove Inserts

Pellet stoves are perfect for people who want to heat their home, but do not have access to gas and don't want to mess with wood or logs. Instead of using natural gas or wooden logs, pellet stoves use wood or biomass pellets. These stoves slow feed fuel from a hopper into the burning area, which creates a constant flame that requires little to no physical adjustments. Most pellet stoves are self-igniting and turn themselves on and off with a thermostat. Remote controls or computer systems are also available options on a pellet stove. ER Chimney Services sells and installs pellet stoves made by 7 different manufacturers.
Wood pellets, made from sawdust and other timber byproducts, are formed in the shape and size of a pencil eraser. Pellets are made to the rigorous standards of the Pellet Fuels Institute. Look for the Institute's label of quality on bags of fuel. Wood pellet fuel, an economical and renewable fuel source, is derived from a waste material. It saves on landfill space, is 100% organic, and does not contribute to the greenhouse effect, since it is CO2 neutral. It is available in convenient 40lb bags and stores in 1/3 the space of cordwood.

Enviro offers 8 high quality and affordable models of freestanding pellet stoves. To find out more about each one, download their brochure.

A renewable energy source, environmentally friendly, economical, convenient… these are just some of the reasons a Napoleon pellet stove is the perfect solution to heat your home. The freestanding stove provides Zone Heating furnace performance and a reliable heating source. The NPS45 gives you uncompromising pellet performance year after year with the comfort of knowing you have selected a product made with true craftsmanship and advanced technological innovations. Wood Stoves & Wood Stove Inserts

Wood burning stoves have been around for centuries, but the technology has come a long way. Most wood burning stoves from today's leading manufacturers are the result of years of research, strict quality testing and patented wood burning technology. Wood burning stoves have surpassed critical standards, providing consumers with the cleanest, most efficient wood burning products. ER Chimney Services only sells and installs the best for their customers. You can find out more about these brands and models we provide below.

Enviro has some of the most efficient wood stoves in the business. By using renewable wood fuel you are reducing the amount of fossil fuel emissions and electricity used, lessening the impact on our environment.

Freestanding Wood Stoves

In your Enviro wood stove, wood fuel is:
Burned more efficiently, up to 84.7% (lowering smoke emissions).
An infinitely renewable resource.
Neutral in terms of CO2 emissions - it is carbon neutral - burning biomass fuel merely releases the CO2 that the plants absorbed over their life spans.
A cost effective way to heat your home and give you comfort in knowing you are doing your part for the environment.
Exclusive Performance Features of all Enviro Wood Inserts:
Large firebox capacity for long overnight burns.
Single, easy-to-use air control adjusts the heat output and regulates the fire.
Twin pilot injection ports tuned to deliver fast start-up. These injection ports are 3” above the firebox floor so you can build a good deep ember bed and not affect low burn or start up.
Ultra strong air wash helps to keep the glass clean.
High efficiency 150 cfm variable speed fan with override switch for convection heat.
Radiant heat is maximized through the large glass area (177 sq. in.).

Traditional Napoleon wood burning products offer state-of-the-art technology, unlike any others, completely utilizing the firebox chamber with a fully lined refractory system. The kiln-like firebox chamber allows for an amazing long day or overnight burn. The single lever combustion control allows for simple regulation of the burn rate. To find out more about what is available, download their brochure.
In 2013, Napoleon went even further in modernizing traditional wood burning technology. The S1, S4 & S9 models are part of their new contemporary EPA approved wood burning stove series and come complete with a modern cast iron door and pedestal base in a metallic charcoal finish. The stoves feature a cabinet like “easy glide” ash drawer with a removable ash pan and lid for easy cleaning. The S-Series also feature a “secure lock” lever action door handle (with a removable handle shield) that remains in a convenient open position when the door is open, making refueling safe and easy. The S-Series is the perfect wood-burning stove for those wanting wood burning technology with a clean, contemporary look. Download the brochure to find out more about this brand new product.

Timberwolf wood burning products are designed to meet EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) clean burning emission standards. The development of products that burn other alternate renewable fuels are continually being explored by our research and development team. Wolf Steel manufactures EcoGreen products to provide our customers with the utmost in comfort and safety both in their homes and in the environment. Wolf Steel was the first manufacturer to recognize and promote Zone Heating as a unique performance benefit that is provided by hearth products. Both non-renewable and renewable natural resources are better utilized by heating only the specific “occupied” area of the home. Heating your home with a Timberwolf EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) approved insert, stove or furnace releases no more carbon dioxide than a dying tree would lying on the forest floor. In fact, when the entire carbon cycle is considered, a Timberwolf® EPA approved product heats your home more efficiently and with less impact on the environment than any other heating fuel option.
